In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add mini marshmallows and heat, stirring occasionally, until marshmallows are puffed but still retain some shape. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract until smooth.

Add the crispy rice cereal to the marshmallow mixture and stir thoroughly until all cereal is evenly coated.

Gently fold in the mini M&M candies until distributed throughout the mixture.

Transfer and firmly press the mixture into an 8x8-inch baking dish greased with butter or cooking spray. Optionally, sprinkle additional mini M&Ms on top for garnish.
